Students often struggle making the leap between visual/concrete to abstract. Solving equations symbolically is an entirely new language for students. This course is designed to help students form a conceptual understanding of the algebraic manipulations they are performing when solving equations.
 
Students will work their way through different levels, each with a new action or added complexity.
 
Level 2 - Solving Equations with Adding/Subtracting Constants
 
Solve equations both visually and algebraically (side-by-side)
Discuss 'legal actions' - removing pounds equally from both sides, adding pounds equally to both sides.
Discuss 'zero pairs' - adding a 1 and -1 together makes 0.
